A play by Hugh Whitemore.

This play is a powerful and moving account of the events leading to the arrest of Peter and Helen Kroger who spied for Russia in 1961 while living in a west London suburb. The action is centred on the unsuspecting and quietly respectable Jacksons: Bob, Barbara and their daughter Julie - who living opposite the Krogers were persuaded by MI5 to allow their house to be used for surveillance. The impact of discovering the truth about their much loved friends shattered their innocent lives, and this play raises important timeless questions about betrayal, the power of the state and the limits of democracy.
